About the Course

Gongbi (工笔), also known as meticulous brush painting, emphasizes precise lines, delicate coloring, and detailed composition. It is a perfect starting point for children to develop patience, focus, and appreciation for Chinese culture.

Our junior program is thoughtfully designed to nurture creativity while building foundational art skills. No prior experience is required—just curiosity and an eagerness to learn.

What Students Will Learn

Throughout the course, students will explore:

• Fundamentals of Gongbi Brushwork
  Introduction to the basic techniques of line drawing using fine brushes.

• Color Layering Techniques
  Application of traditional Chinese pigments to bring subjects to life through layering and shading.

• Traditional Themes
  Students will paint classical motifs such as koi fish, birds, flowers, and bamboo—each with symbolic meanings.

• Composition and Structure
  Learning to arrange elements thoughtfully and harmoniously on rice paper.

• Cultural Enrichment
  Brief storytelling sessions and historical insights help deepen understanding of Chinese aesthetics and symbolism.
